چکیده

Abstract The Promoting Radio Astronomy in Ghana through School visits and Clubs (PRAGSAC) project was an intervention to promote astronomy education schools Ghana. It initiated by a group of enthusiastic students who were trained radio astrophysics under Royal Society/Newton Fund UK termed Development Africa with Astronomy. team’s aim is expose school children increase their interest the sciences. Approximately 800 from seven junior high positively impacted this project. clubs formed selected practical lessons taught. kids visited largest single telescope at Kuntunse Accra amazed about engineering science that it undertakes. For patrons clubs, teacher training workshop organised for them, so as equip them manage clubs. feedback teachers exceptionally positive, implying PRAGSAC has helped inspire more pursue courses consider careers within

Radio Astronomy with RASDR2

The RASDR design team is releasing a software-defined receiver (SDR) for radio astronomy called RASDR2 7 . The receiver consists of two high-density circuit boards -a wide-band femtocell 8 chip on the front end analog interface MyriadRF board 9 linked to a DigiRed digitization and function control board -coupled to a computer via either a USB2 or USB3 interface. RASDRViewer software runs in a W...

Measurements of microwave attenuation at room temperature and 4.2 K have been performed on some conductors commonly used in receiver input circuits. The reduction in loss on cooling is substantial, particularly for copper and plated gold, both of which showed a factor of 3 loss reduction. Copper passivated with benzotriazole shows the same loss as without passivation. The residual resistivity r...

Techniques of Radio Astronomy

This chapter provides an overview of the techniques of radio astronomy. This study began in 1931 with Jansky’s discovery of emission from the cosmos, but the period of rapid progress began fifteen years later. From then to the present, the wavelength range expanded from a few meters to the sub-millimeters, the angular resolution increased from degrees to finer than milli arc seconds and the rec...

National Radio Astronomy Observatory

As part of an initiative to reduce the size, weight, and complexity of radio astronomy receivers and to place the conversion from analog to digital signals as close to the telescope feed as possible, a prototype single-conversion, sideband-separating mixer receiver with a tunable local oscillator (LO) between 5 and 9 GHz has been built and tested. After straightforward gain and phase calibratio...

Amateur Radio Astronomy

After a brief introduction on the theoretical and technical principles of radioastronomy, the author proposes to link the concepts of the discipline with the activity of amateur research. They will discuss some areas of work truly accessible to amateur experimenters, and the possible outcomes within the description of feasible projects, together with the analysis of the equipment and the necess...
